“Be Still and Know That I Am God”
We are deep into the autumn in Portland. Come in out of the cold on Sunday morning to gather with us in the cozy confines of the Worship Center as we seek God in singing, praying, and silence. As always, a warm cup of coffee or tea will be waiting for you.
Clerk Pastor Kenneth Comfort will share a message out of Mark 1:35 entitled “Be Still and Know That I am God.” The aforementioned verse reads:
“In the morning, while it was still very dark, [Jesus] got up and went out to a deserted place, and there he prayed.” (NRSV)
Some queries to prepare your heart and mind for our time together:
- How are you setting aside time and space to hear from God?
- What are some obstacles to this sacred space?
Following the message, there will be a time for Open Worship. At this time, we grow silent to provide space for Christ to speak to us. If you feel the Spirit leading, you may share with the gathering.
Worship songs to open the gathering will be: How We Love You, I Want To Know You, and Nothing I Hold Onto.
The choir will also be singing this Sunday. Below is a sampling of lyrics from Your Love Compels Me:
Your love compels me, Lord, to give as You would give,
To speak as You would speak, to live as You would live.
Your love compels me, Lord, to see as you would see,
To serve as you would serve, to be what you would be.
We look forward to seeing you on Sunday at 9:30 am.
