This coming Sunday, as we gather as a community, we turn our focus to gratitude and giving thanks. The choir will sing Anthem of Gratitude, a hymn giving thanks to God for life, nature, and our community. Our time together will also include an extended period of Open Worship as we ponder the following queries:
For what are we grateful? As individuals? As a community?
How do we express our gratitude regularly?
Our scripture comes from Colossians 3.15-17:
And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
This Sunday will also feature a recitation by some of our youth. Sarah Frisby, Morgan Gallardo, Alyssa Reed, and Stella Souza will share Frederick Buechner’s Zacchaeus. Shirley Brendlinger will play All Creatures of Our God and Kind/The Doxology as an offertory.
We hope to see you this Sunday at 9:30am as we give thanks.
