In Preparation for Meeting: Sunday, November 6

Moving Toward Thanksgiving

The first Sunday of November has come and we are turning our hearts and our attention to the theme of thanksgiving as we continue through the gospel of Mark.

It is also Children’s Sunday (being the first Sunday of the month) and the Children’s choir will be sharing two songs with the gathering: Love The Lord Your God and Give Me Jesus.

We’ll be joining together to sing three tunes with the worship band: Every Move I Make, Let All Things Now Living, and Nothing I Hold On To. Below are some of the lyrics from Let All Things Now Living:

Let all things now living, A song of thanksgiving, To God the Creator triumphantly raise. / Who fashioned and made us, protected and stayed us, Who guideth us on to the end of our days.

Pastor Ken Comfort will share a message on thankfulness out of Mark 1:29-31:

As soon as they left the synagogue, they entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they told him about her at once. He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up. Then the fever left her, and she began to serve them. (NRSV)

The following are some queries to consider in preparing your heart and mind for meeting this Sunday:

For what are you grateful/thankful right now?

How do you show gratefulness/thankfulness?

Meeting for Worship begins at 9:30am in the Worship Center.
